a day like no other
seeing other people wearing hats
vibrant dresses
heavy make up
spending their special day with their friends
covered in cake frosting
a completely mess.
yet here I am, just by myself alone in this room
no wishes for me
just like any day.
My lips quivered the moment I finished typing. I pushed my seat and threw my head back to the chair. Staring to the dark unlit ceiling. My eyes shifted to gaze upon the time that was hanged so poorly against the green walls of my room.
2:00 PM
I pushed my feet off the wall, and my chair rolled back. The breeze sent a rush of adrenaline in my veins before the wheels eased up near the opened window of my room. The sight of the moon high in the sky was far from my block of view. Just the waving leaves of my mango tree and the rustles that echoed to every corner this dark room.
Closing my eyes, feeling every nerve of my skin tensed, from the hushes of wind blowing on my delicate skin… The sound of the rustling leaves somehow feels calm—I don’t know when it started feeling that way, but it does. I opened my eyes back and gazed upon the dots of lights on the distant homes.
I hadn’t realized how heavy my eyelids had gotten, until everything suddenly just turns dark.
